The Kwantlen Student Association is a democratic, student-run organisation. Council is made up of representatives normally elected each year in February. By-elections may also be held when there are vacancies. Major decisions about the work of the Kwantlen Student Association can be made by referendum (such as setting the amount of student fees).

2021 KSA By-Election
The KSA held an online by-election from Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 10am PT to Wednesday, December 8 at 9pm PT to fill the vacant position of Arts Representative on Council. The candidate for Arts Representative was Alvin Chand.
Alvin Chand was successfully elected in the by-election with 31 Yes votes and 26 No votes as Arts Representative.
